RULABULA RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL AWARD

February 8th, 2009

6th February 2009
Sligo woman Stephanie Timmons of RulaBula has been awarded international accreditation by the Contemporary Ceramics Studio Association (CCSA). She is the first ever recipient of this award outside of the U.S.A. ‘Becoming the first certified CCSA studio in Europe is absolutely brilliant, it recognises all the hard work that everybody has put into RulaBula, and that we are committed to providing a non-toxic, safe environment to our customers’ said Stephanie. ‘When I opened RulaBula, I joined the international association as I felt their high standards were they way I wanted to work. They have very strict guidelines on how a paint your own pottery business should be run. It needs to be eco friendly and people friendly, using only the highest quality equipment. There were spot checks and audits, and RulaBula emerged successful. ‘

To obtain this award, Stephanie also had to take special professional classes in instructing customers in working with low-fire bisque and paints. ‘I am committed to providing a non-toxic environment for my customers. To keep my certification current I will continue attending professional conventions and classes. As a result, I will have new projects to show customers and new techniques to share — it’s my way of making sure everyone leaves the studio feeling satisfied that they received the attention and instruction they need to create a beautiful piece of pottery whether it is for their own home or as a special gift.’

RulaBula is located at JFK Parade and opens seven days a week. The paint your own pottery studio caters for all ages and groups and recently celebrated it’s first anniversary. Children, adults and groups come in and paint a piece of pottery for their own use or as a present. It is also popular for pre-booked hen nights, school and youth club trips. ‘We promise a fun and creative time’ says Stephanie. ‘You can drop in with an adult friend, a child or a maybe a niece or nephew. Our doors are open every day and we are always on had to give help with whatever ornament or utensil you choose to paint. You can decorate pottery or create your own fused glass works of art.’ For further information log on to www.hullabaloo.ie, email info@hullabaloo.ie or phone 071 9147528.

Carer’s Association enjoy fun morning in Rulabula

February 8th, 2009

On the 3rd December, RulaBula held a morning session for the Carers’ Association.
This gave family members a much needed break, from which for many can be a round the clock duty. Painting pottery gave the carers a chance to switch off and do something completely different.
We were delighted to be involved in the organising of the event and to have introduced the Carers Association to the joys of painting pottery.
A huge Thank You to Stephanie & the girls at RulaBula who volunteered their time and services on the morning. Thank you also to Café Victor who sponsored treats and lunch on the day.
